GATE is becoming completely online

GATE is in the process to become completely online now.

GATE 2012 application process has become online completely, taking from beginning of registration to fee-payment and even till admit card collection the whole process of GATE has become fully online these days.

Procedure to apply for GATE 2012:
1. Initially applicants have to visit respective IIT/IISc website and get registered.

2.Login and give exam details,he has to fill all the details which is required.

3.Before applying, candidates must ensure that they have chosen the right paper, which qualifies them to become eligible to seek admission to the specific programmes they are interested in.

4.Then he has to Pay the exam fee through gateway or bank challan payment.

5.Take a printout of the form, sign it up at the appropriate place, affix photos at the appropriate place and relevant certificates and post them to IIT office or respective GATE offices before October 24 2012
then only the whole application process is completed.Except from IIT Website "In GATE 2012, candidates need to register and fill the application ONLINE only by accessing the zonal GATE websites of IISc and seven IITs.

Seats for Qualified Students:
It has been finalised that students getting ranks below 100 can be assured of a seat in either the IISc or top IITs. Several other good colleges that take students for master's programme through GATE include the NITs located across the country and the university colleges.

Admit Cards:
The admit cards for GATE will not be sent by post. Admit cards can only be downloaded from the zonal GATE websites and respective IIT websites www.gate.iitb.ac.in from 5th December, 2012 onwards. So, no more waiting for postal admit cards because Sending Admit cards by post has been discontinued from this year.
Bring the downloaded GATE 2013 Admit Card at the GATE 2013 Test Center along with at least one original ( not photocopied / scanned copy ) and valid ( not expired) photo identification. Only one of the following photo identifications is permitted : Driving license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, College ID, Employee identification card, or a notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. Photocopies of the original identification document are not acceptable.


Note : GATE Candidates will not be permitted to take the 2013 Test, if original and valid photo identification is not presented.

In GATE 2011, the papers with codes GG, TF, AE and MN had ONLINE examination.And in GATE 2012, two additional papers, AR and AG, will also have ONLINE examination.GATE is conducted through the constitution of eight zones.The zones and the corresponding administrative institutes are:
Zone-1: Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru
Zone-2: Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
Zone-3: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
Zone-4: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
Zone-5: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Zone-6: Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
Zone-7: Indian Institute of Technology Madras
Zone-8: Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

In GATE 2012, a total of six papers (AR, GG, TF, AE, AG and MN) will be conducted completely online. This indicates that there is a good chance of GATE becoming completely online incoming years.The ONLINE examination will be conducted in two sessions on Sunday, January 29, 2012.
